iPad Service at iStore

Being an Apple Authorised Service Provider iStore is the best place to get your iPad serviced. iStore uses Apple provided diagnostic tools and procedures to ensure we treat your iPad as Apple intended.


How do I get my iPad fixed?

Bring your iPad, iPad Pro or iPad mini in to iStore where it will be booked in to our service department to be assessed by one of our service technicians. If your device is covered under warranty we will repair or replace your device and contact you when your device is ready for collection. Due to Apple's repair policy your iPad will need to remain in our service department for the duration of the repair.

Due to the complicated nature of the iPad, no component repairs will take place on your device in iStore's service department and your device may be sent to Apple's repair centre where it will be assessed, replaced and returned to iStore. Once your replaced iPad is shipped back to iStore, we will contact you so it can be collected straight from our Takapuna store.


How much will it cost?

If your iPad is less than a year old and the issue covered by Apple's Limited Warranty the service will be free of charge. If your iPad was purchased in New Zealand and is less than 24 months old it may be covered under Apple's variable warranty.

For all iPad repairs there is a $15.00 assessment fee that is payable if a repair or replacement is not facilitated (regardless of warranty status). If you accept a diagnostic and quote for repair iStore will wipe the assessment fee.

How long will it take?

We aim for a service turn around time of 3-5 working days for iPad repairs, however this may vary depending on the current work load of the service department.1

Battery Service

If your iPad is suffering from battery life issues iStore can diagnose the issue. If we confirm a failed or consumed battery we can get your iPad replaced for a discounted battery replacement fee.

Servicing iPad Accessories

If your iPad accessory – such as a USB to lightning cable or Power Adapter – is not working as expected you can get it serviced through iStore. In order for iStore to facilitate a repair or replacement of an iPad accessory we may need to run a quick diagnostic on the iPad you use the accessory with. This takes a few minutes while we book in your faulty item. Just like with iPad repairs your accessory will need to remain in our service department for the duration of the repair however you may take your iPad away with you.2


Before you bring in your device

Before bringing in your iPad to be serviced please ensure you have done all appropriate backups of your data. In some cases iStore may have to reset your device to help diagnose and confirm an issue. Unfortunately iStore is unable to perform data backup or recovery for iPad. All data synced to your iPad will be lost during the service.



Problems with iOS?

Unfortunately software issues are not covered by Apple's warranty. Thankfully iStore technicians are highly skilled in diagnosing and fixing issues with iOS. We will endeavour to repair your issues as quickly as possible and if the situation calls for it, we can restore your device to factory settings. Restoring your device will result in data loss however we will walk you through backup and recovery options if a restore is required.

Apple Pencil

If your Apple Pencil is suffering from issues you can bring it into iStore for service. If your device was purchased in New Zealand and is less than 24 months old it may be covered under Apple's variable warranty.

Because the Apple Pencil doesn't ship with the iPad we will use the serial number from the Apple Pencil to confirm it's warranty status. As it is a stand alone product you may need to provide iStore with a proof of purchase in order for us to service your Apple Pencil.

iPad Pro Smart Keyboard

If your iPad Pro Smart Keyboard is suffering from issues you can bring it into iStore for service.

Because the iPad Pro Smart Keyboard doesn't ship with the iPad we will use the serial number from the Smart keyboard to confirm it's warranty status. If we are unable to read the serial number you may need to provide iStore with a proof of purchase in order for us to service your Smart Keyboard. iStore will still need to run a diagnostic on the iPad Pro that the Smart Keyboard is used with.

Beware of counterfeit parts

Some non-genuine and third party power adapters and batteries may not be designed properly and could result in safety issues. To ensure you receive a genuine Apple battery during a battery replacement, we recommend visiting iStore or another Authorised Service Provider when servicing your iPhone. If you need a replacement adapter or cable to charge your Apple device, we recommend getting an Apple made accessory. Also non-genuine displays quite often have compromised visual quality and fail to work correctly. Screen repairs through iStore are performed by trusted experts who use genuine Apple parts.

Having non-genuine parts in your device may cause the device to become ineligible for service. If your device has had a third party repair iStore may still be able to replace the entire unit for an out-of-warranty service fee.3

Had an accident?

If your device has suffered liquid damage or impact damage from an unfortunate mishap – or if your device has been lost or stolen – iStore can provide an insurance assessment and send the report directly to your insurance company. Once approved we can repair or replace your device and have you up and running again as soon as possible. An insurance assessment requires a valid claim number and contact email address. We also require an insurance assessment fee to be paid up front, in most cases this will be reimbursed by your insurance company.

Smart Keyboard Repair Program

Apple has determined that some Smart Keyboard devices may experience functional issues during use. The service policy covers affected Smart Keyboards for 3 years after the first retail sale of the device. Affected models are the Apple Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro 9.7-inch iPad Pro (Early 2016) and Smart Keyboard for 12.9-inch iPad Pro (Late 2015). In order for iStore to service keyboards under the repair program you must provide a proof of purchase showing the serial number or the keyboard’s retail box.
